April Update

Welcome to our April newsletter.  I hope this finds you well and enjoying the sunshine!

A Birthday:
As I write this it is the birthday of Mr Thomas Ambrose Bowen the man we can credit with bringing us this wonderful body work called Bowen Therapy.  Mr Bowen passed away in 1982 at the age of 66.  He lived and worked in Geelong, Victoria all his life.  Whilst working in his clinic during the week one Saturday morning a month he gave generously of his time and skill for disabled children to help improve their quality of life. Upon his passing he left us his legacy of ‘body work’ that became known as Bowen Therapy.

Bowen Therapy has made its way around the world, with trainers and practitioners in many countries including  USA, UK, India, Canada, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania to name just a few. In addition to this there are now many more people who have benefited from Bowen Therapy, through reduced levels of pain, improved well-being, etc.  How fortunate are we to know that Australia is the birthplace of Bowen Therapy?

Our 4 Legged Friends:
We know that Bowen Therapy has many benefits for us humans, potentially helping improve our sense of well-being, discomfort levels, acute or chronic pain, anxiety, etc;  so too for our canine companions, i.e., dogs.

Bowen Therapy is also a wonderful modality for our pet dogs.  The beauty of working with animals and in this particular case pet dogs is they have no preconceived notions about what they are receiving and therefore, usually respond quite quickly.  Of course Bowen Therapy for your pet does not take the place of Veterinary care.

A story:
Three weeks ago I received a call from a lady whose small dog’s hind legs had collapsed from underneath it.  The vet took bloods and they were all clear. He felt it was an issue with the lower back and prescribed anti-inflammatories and rest. The little dog was not her usual bouncy self! After her first Bowen session she had a big sleep. The next morning her human had to try and keep her quiet because she was wanting to play. Upon her second visit the little dog looked like there was no injury at all.  Her human is very appreciative and happy with the outcome of Bowen Therapy for her little dog. I am sure the little dog is too!

Help for you,  your 4 legged friend or both:

Whilst reading this you may have realised that it’s been a while and that:

  • you could benefit from a Bowen Therapy session or
  • maybe your four legged friend could benefit from a Bowen Therapy session or
  • perhaps both of you could benefit.

If that is the case then give us a call to take advantage of our 10% discount for both you and / or your pet. Just mention this newsletter.
