Patch – Will Boys Legacy Fundraiser 2019-12-13T05:46:00+11:00

Patch – Will Boys Legacy Fundraiser was held to raise funds for Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) to provide help, in some small way, to continue its world class research as an independent, not for profit research facility.

To date we have raised $8,600  towards research in the area of Viruses, Infections, Vaccines and Asthma (VIVA).

Why might I decide to conduct  this fundraiser? Just over 20 years ago I lost two nephews to illness 10 months apart. Patrick a gorgeous 10 year old and William beautiful at 20 months. Patrick to a chronic blood disorder and William to an adult type of Leukaemia. To say that this devastated their parents, siblings and the extended family is an understatement.

It was after this that I decided I wanted to make a difference in the lives of people who were / are in pain and or generally unwell. I could never have changed the outcome for my beautiful nephews but maybe just maybe I could help others experience a better quality of life. That is why I chose Bowen Therapy because it is effective yet gentle.

For the last 20 years I have always wanted to do something in their memories so I approached HMRI whokindly gave me an Authority to Fundraise on their behalf.  Why did I choose HMRI? I chose them because they are world leaders in research we need this quality of research for those like my nephews who are desperately looking for effective treatments or a cure.

It was decided to structure the day around the issues of navigating staying well in today’s world. We held the event at the Shoal Bay Country Club on the 3rd August 2019, from 1pm to 5pm,  with big thanks to Nicole for all her organisation.

Our speakers included:

  • Dr Annie Marshall GP
  • Dr Linda Sheahan – Palliative Care Physician
  • Dr John Cropley – Dentist
  • Ian Brigden – Optometrist

  • Katrina Ridley – Bowen Therapy Practitioner
  • Skye Stewart  – Psychologist
  • Lynette Kelly – speaking as a parent who lost a child to illness.
